Iran’s Participation in the 11th World Environmental Congress
WANA (May 22) – The 11th World Environmental Congress, attended by high-level environmental officials from 14 countries, is being held today and tomorrow in Saint Petersburg, Russia. At the invitation of Russia’s Minister of Environment, Shina Ansari, Vice President and Head of Iran’s Department of Environment, is representing Iran at this significant international event.
The congress focuses on key topics such as the Caspian Sea, BRICS and sustainable development, the role of women in sustainability, and the ecology of large cities. It serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and planning for a greener future.
A major highlight of Iran’s participation is its accession to the BRICS carbon market. The agreement is set to be approved during the summit — a significant step toward enhancing Iran’s regional and international environmental cooperation and advancing sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the congress, Iran and Russia have also emphasized continuing their collaboration on combating pollution in the Caspian Sea and protecting endangered species — efforts that will strengthen both countries’ regional roles in conserving natural resources.
